Lyrics
From Bianca de Jong's notes (The translation was done by Theodore Vasilescu)
Da, Haida roată, măi flăcăi!
Și la dreapta pe călcâi!
Joacă bade, pe schimbate.
Și cu stângul mai departe!
Refren:
Hăăăi... Hăăăi...
Haida roată, măi, voinici,
Refren:
Hăăăi... Hăăăi...
Haida roată, măi, voinici,
Cu obiele și opinci
Printre tufe de urzici!
Roată, roată și răstrei,
Roată, roată și răstrei,
Cu-n genunchi și un călcâi,
Pe stratul de pătrunjăi!
Joacă, măi bade, hăi!
Joacă, măi bade, hăi!
Tot pe vârfuri și călcâi,
Uiha, hop-așa!
Bate talpa la podea!
‘Nainte picioare moi.
Bate talpa la podea!
‘Nainte picioare moi.
Că și eu îs de pe voi.
Dă-i ‘nainte tropotind!
Eu din urmă gâfâind!
Refren:
Hăăăi... Hăăăi...
Hai la joc, bade, la joc!
Refren:
Hăăăi... Hăăăi...
Hai la joc, bade, la joc!
Din picioare tropa-trop,
Nu te uita că nu-i loc!
Hai cu mâna după spate
Hai cu mâna după spate
Și piciorul pe săltate,
Nu gândi că nu se poate!
Joacă, măi bade, hăi!
Nu gândi că nu se poate!
Joacă, măi bade, hăi!
Tot pe vârfuri și călcâi,
Uiha, hop-așa!
Cu oițica la podea!
De jucat aș ști să joc.
Dar nu știu cum să mă-ntorc!
Cu oițica la podea!
De jucat aș ști să joc.
Dar nu știu cum să mă-ntorc!
Vină bade, să mă-nvârt!
Că n-am mai jucat de mult!
Refren:
Hăăăi... Hăăăi...
Da’ nu vă uitați că joc rău,
C-așa joacă neamul meu
Că n-am mai jucat de mult!
Refren:
Hăăăi... Hăăăi...
Da’ nu vă uitați că joc rău,
C-așa joacă neamul meu
Și mai bine și mai rău!
Dac-ar fi știut mai bine,
Dac-ar fi știut mai bine,
M-ar fi-nvățat și pe mine
Și azi nu pățeam rușine!
Joacă, măi bade, hăi!
Joacă, măi bade, hăi!
Tot pe vârfuri și călcâi,
Uiha, hop-așa
Bate talpa la podea!
Joacă, măi bade, hăi!
Bate talpa la podea!
Joacă, măi bade, hăi!
Pe săltate dă-i și dă-i!
Uiha, hop-așa!
Ca să știu și eu juca
Ca să știu și eu juca
Come on lads on the wheel (go around)
And the right on the heel
Dance, bade, take turns
And go on with left
Chorus
Hai, hai
Haide wheel, strong guys
With feet covers and opinci
Dance, bade, take turns
And go on with left
Chorus
Hai, hai
Haide wheel, strong guys
With feet covers and opinci
Through the nettle bushes
Wheel, wheel and three times three
Wheel, wheel and three times three
On your knees and a heel
On the layer of parsley
Dance, bade, come on
All on the top of the shoes and heels
On the layer of parsley
Dance, bade, come on
All on the top of the shoes and heels
Uiha, hop-asha
Hit the sole on the floor
Go ahead soft feet
At the moment I’m coming after you
Hit the sole on the floor
Go ahead soft feet
At the moment I’m coming after you
Go ahead and stamp
I was gasping for breath
Chorus
Hai, hai
Let’s dance, bade, let’s dance
I was gasping for breath
Chorus
Hai, hai
Let’s dance, bade, let’s dance
Stepping small and quick
Don’t worry there is no room
Come with your hand behind my back
Come with your hand behind my back
And the leg/feet on the jump
Don’t think that you can’t do it
Dance, bade, come on
All on the top of the shoes and heels
Don’t think that you can’t do it
Dance, bade, come on
All on the top of the shoes and heels
Uiha, hop-asha
With a shoe on the floor
I know how to dance
But I don’t know how to turn
Come, bade, help me turning
Because I haven’t danced in a long time
Chorus
Hai hai
But don’t forget that I dance badly
With a shoe on the floor
I know how to dance
But I don’t know how to turn
Come, bade, help me turning
Because I haven’t danced in a long time
Chorus
Hai hai
But don’t forget that I dance badly
That’s how my people dance
And better and worse
If he knew better
He would have taught me too
And today I would not be ashamed
Dance bade come on
All on top of the shoes and heels
And better and worse
If he knew better
He would have taught me too
And today I would not be ashamed
Dance bade come on
All on top of the shoes and heels
Uiha- hop-asha!
Hit the sole on the floor
Dance bade come on
Hit the sole on the floor
Dance bade come on
Jump and again and again
Uiha hop-asha
So I can dance too
So I can dance too
