GLORIFY GOD IN YOUR BODY AND SPIRIT

BIBLE TEXT(S): 1 Corinthians 6:9-20

The ways in which God expects His glorification from man are in the body and Spirit. Man was created purposely to glorify God and the more you glorify Him, the more His beauty is revealed in your life. These days, it is not the same because men dishonor and disregard God. Men who ought to reveal God to the people of the earthen are now the ones pushing them away from God.

Glorifying God with your body is to prevent yourself from being defiled in any form of sin while to Glorify God in the Spirit is to hearken and move according to the leading of the Holy Spirit. In order to be able to glorify God in the body and in the Spirit you must be ready to do the will of God wholeheartedly.

1 Corinthians 6:15-20 “Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. ¹⁶ What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. ¹⁷ But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. ¹⁸ Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.¹⁹ What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?²⁰For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's”.

Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ; this implies that you must not give to your body anything ungodly or things that do not glorify Christ. This body of Christ cannot be joined to a harlot, for he that is joined to a harlot is one body with such. Regardless of your worship and service in His presence, they are not acceptable before God because fornication and adultery joins one to a harlot which is against one’s body, the body of Christ.

Know that the day is full of evil and you should not walk in the way of evil. Every form of immorality, ungodliness and unrighteousness are the ways of evil. If you then choose to walk in these things that lead to evil then expect such.

If you are joined to a harlot, then you are also a harlot and he that is joined to the Spirit of God is of the Lord. Being joined to the Spirit of the Lord gives you access to God and your prayers will be regarded but if you do not have the Spirit of God, you will not be regarded by Him. Flee from fornication as he who does so, sin with his own body. You are the temple of God and He dwells in you. You cannot reveal the glory of God if your body cannot house him. Do not allow anything that is not of God to direct your life. Long life and peace is your heritage, regardless of what may happen.

The book of proverbs says that Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. You can only discover and access it when you give your body and spirit unto God. God never looks for our sudden death just like a father will not wish his child dead. But filthiness gives room for the devil to take such life since no dirt dwells around God. If you are not around God, you are gone. Give all you have to God, surrender all unto Him and see what He would make of your life.

For ye have been bought with a price: this price refers to the blood and death of Jesus Christ. With this price, Christ paid in full all our debt. When you face issues in life, pray and seek the face of the Lord. Do not be deceived by anyone who requests a thing or the other.

God honors a life of purity and holiness i.e. a man that is aware of the fact that both the life he possess and all he owns belong to God

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, ¹⁰ Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.¹¹ And such youre some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God”.

All those who engage in these acts cannot inherent the Kingdom. If a person misses the kingdom of God, what then is the essence of his life? The happenings here and there signify that that the kingdom of God is at hand.

1 Corinthians 6:13 “Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. ¹⁴And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power”.

The body would perish one day just as the food in the belly, only the spirit will not die but would either go to an eternal joy or torment depending on how such lived while alive on earth.

As a child of God, one will face problems but this problem is not to pull you away from God. The devil had seen the glory of God for your life and wants to prevent it from shinning.It takes understanding the leading of God to be free from this problem

The body is not for fornication but for the Lord and the Lord for the body, the same way God raised up the Lord, so will he raise they that are joined to the Him. Those resurrected will not witness the second death.

Despite all that Christ has done for you, why do you still engage in these acts? This shows your lack of appreciation. Never because of the things you see now destroy the future; although, It might be hard, do not misconstrue the fact that God sees it all. At the appointed time, God will reveal His glory in you because it is a better tomorrow ahead of you.
